German BBQ and the Girls

It really was time to meet with my German friends again... so we had a German BBQ and Karin and Jen joined us as well. Karin comes originally from Stuttgart and Steph met her at the barn as well as Jen.
Here we have Sandra, Ravyn and Jen:  Karin and Sandra in a discussion:
Steph our BBQ chef:
I loved Steph's flowers outside...
Sandra did most of the preparation like: 'eingelegtes Fleisch', Tzatziki, Kaeuterbutter, Schaschlik spiesse (excuse my German... I know most of it is spelled wrong, i'm too lazy now to look it up), Baguette Brot, Mais Kolben, Folienkartoffeln and for desert banana 'grilled' and lazed with Bailys :)... BOAH... das war ein LECKERES BBQ!
Sandra introduced Jen right away into 'Alsterwasser' (half beer/ half sprite). We had a great time but a tough time with the moskitos... we were spaying us with tons of 'anti moskito stuff' but Jen and I got bit a lot :( so we had to go inside after a while.
It was a great time and we're looking into doing a 'German cooking' night so we won't forget the German taste ;)

Chinatown with Freda

Yesterday I finally met Freda again after over half a year! Just very busy... and since DownTown is always a 'day trip' to me... only possible on the weekends... but we made it and met downtown to go together to Chinatown and have a nice lunch.
When we were back on the train and around other americans again I realized that I just thought I made a trip to China because in chinatown there are mostly chinese people ;). It's funny how the brain and eyes can play with you. Some pics from Chinatown:
We had a very delicous lunch...

Me next to my chinese sign, the rooster... but what was said on the plate about my 'personality' didn't all match up to me I have to say! But most of it ;)
Freda has the 'pig' as her chinese sign
It was nice being down town again... and it was VERY hot... WOW... that was a 'pool day' rather than walking around down town ;). It was fun and very nice meeting Freda again. It is very interesting meeting people from other countries and talk about the different cultures.

Flood...

Today was a crazy day... first of all I think almost everybody woke up by the thunder that was going nuts in the morning. During the morning it started to rain and just didn't stop but was getting heavier and heavier. There was just too much water coming down that it couldn't go away quick enough and decided to come back up again and leave lakes in our Warehouse. So the Warehouse guys needed to move the freight asap from the 'wet' area and the rest was trying to get the water out of the Warehouse somehow (it was kind of fun doing 'active' work instead of sitting in front of the computer). Since another storm was going to come in soon and our parking lot looked already like a little lake. Management decided to send us home... that was around 11 AM.
This afternoon I got some pictures from a few hours later, around 3-4 PM... this is the street our building is 'sitting' on. You cannot even 'see' the street anymore: These are the sea freight docks...
This is the 'drive in' to the Warehouse ;)
and here a closer look to the big lake... to the right would be the rest of the docks (airfreight):The main entrance to the office... this lake is supposed to be our parking lot!!! Keep in mind that in the middle it's deeper...And this was the other side of our 'street'... you can see... water... water... water... the area was totally flooded.

Where I live everything was fine :). So I had no trouble at all driving around. Unfortunatelly Sandra couldn't leave her home because she's living in that flood area. Our movie/ pedicure and BBQ preparation night totally fell into the water :(...

So I hope all is ok with our building and the water is going away quickly and is not destroying anything!!! At night another big storm came in but i decided to go to the movies alone so I kind of got around that one ;). Tomorrow it should be a very nice day :) YEAH... Look forward to the girls night, haven't seen the girls in weeks! This time the weather shouldn't screw it up, please ;).

not much happening...

Not much is happening here this week. I haven't been to the gym at all (yet) and this weekend I even stay in Chicago...
This morning started pretty funny though :). I texted with my coworker because she was running late and then I got a text back again saying if I could please start the 'dryer' my socks would be in there... I was laughing so hard... texted her back: 'I can't, there is no dryer in the office!!!' *lol*... she called me and we just started laughing out loud! That was sooo funny. The text was meant to be for her kids at home.
I had such a taste for 'German food' for a few days that we went to the German restaurant for lunch and had some good German food *delicious*. On the way back to the office, we got lost... I never know where I'm going... I'm telling you... but I always find a way back :). Had my smart Iphone with me... google map is on it as well so I knew right away where we were and drove us back to the office *lol*. We always have such a good time... it's great. I'm so glad we're working together :).
FR I'm going to the movies with Sandra and on SA we're going to do a Girls German-BBQ night at Steph's! Ok... what is typical for a german-BBQ? Help me out here because I have no clue!!! The only thing I can think of is potato salad... but that's too much work *lol*...

Breast Cancer Harley Ride

This is a paradies of Harleys, isn't it? YEAH... today was the Breast Cancer Ride that we joined for a little bit. The bikers started registering at around 1230PM and start of the ride was 130PM. Here some very unique bike shots:

I liked this one a lot... very Girlie ;).
3 stops were scheduled during the ride. It was very interesting... I remembered Doug's saying about our CHI traffic *lol*... 'You guys have a green light and you speed up as quickly as possible and then you have to hit the brakes very hard because the next red light is already there or the next STOP sign'... not a very 'relaxing' driving!!!
That's how I felt today... speedy... brakes... speedy... brakes... that was crazy! My suggestion to tojust slow down a little and enjoy the ride in a smooth way isn't the way those rides go I guess ;). I was glad I was just enjoying the ride and sitting in the back seat :). It was very good organized as well. They had stopper for each intersection so we didn't need to stop at all...
I finally got a picture from the two of us. I bet a lot of you were looking for that already for some time...
Taaadddaaaa ;)
