World War II Display

FR Night we had a Belleville World War II Battle Display with US vehicles from the war. I was so thrilled to see some of the older vehicles and show Henry big trucks. I thought this would be so cool. Frank didn't want to go and gave in after my excitement....
Little did I know!!!
First impression: I was sitting down on the curb and the woman next to me ask me about my accent where I was from and I told her Germany... and her answer was "Oh Oh"... it kind of hit me and I said "yeah... I know... I'll be quiet" jokingly of course because I didn't think ANYTHING of it until that awkward response...
Second misunderstanding: They started to actually shoot their guns in a remake of a war... clearly our kids had NOTHING to do there and I felt like the worst person on earth why in the world was I even thinking about going there and why did I bring the kids! I never in a million years would've thought they're acting out a war scene live (of course there were no real loaded guns but they were loud and you could've thought it was real)... luckily nobody got 'killed' or at least I didn't see anybody get 'killed'...
Lesson learned... I guess...

Date Day

On FR we had the luxury of a date day :)... the kids spent the day at a farm of a german teacher of ours and Frank and I enjoyed a nice Harley ride ALONE... it was soooo cool. We totally enjoyed it.
The kids gave me a very hard time dropping them off but they had sooo much fun!

Zoe even got to ride the horse

SAT we enjoyed a birthday pool party! First one for us... it was a ton of fun for the kids and for us because we could just chill and chat while the kids had a blast. They were having so much fun, we had to drag them out of the water to eat cupcakes ;)

Zoe's school uniform... (one version). She had her kindergarten orientation yesterday night and met her teacher. She's very excited... Henry and I went to the gym so Frank and her went to the orientation alone. Henry wasn't happy about going to the gym day care without his big sister but he did great and survived just fine. It's going to be very weird for them to be spending not all day together anymore once school starts... it'll be a huge adjustment for all of us I guess.

We went and got some supplies for our art project. Results will be revealed on SAT :)...
I treated myself to some beautiful flowers... oh they look so good!

On the road back home

We decided to take a little beach break on the way home to Detroit. It was a lot of fun but the kids would've loved to stay longer of course:

We drove through a very bad storm... afterwards I needed to get an iced coffee to cool down and get more energy for the last stretch.

Chicago Weekend

And one last trip before Dustin comes... I took the kids to Chicago to visit my friend Stephanie and her family and to celebrate her daughter Lena's 4th Birthday. The kids got along super great... we barely saw them, they were so busy playing!
Zoe loved her animals... the little kitten Oliver in particular.

Ready to party

It was a princess birthday party

Stephanie with all the little princesses and princes
One night watching TV before bedtime

Cash's Birthday

Aaand, another birthday, correct :)... since we're home we had at least one birthday party per weekend ;)

And another Greenfield Village trip with our german friends

Calder's Farm

We had some fun at a farm with friends

and we celebrated a farewell for one of our German Friends who will spend a year in Germany but fortunately will come back to us next summer :). I will miss them a lot but we had a great time together with all our german friends to celebrate their farewell and also their 12th anniversary :)

Cutting the cake :)
