Public Safety Event

This morning we went to the Public Safety Event here in Belleville which is really cool. The kids will get in touch with all the emergency vehicles and for Jenny it was a great opportunity to see the American emergency vehicles close and compare to the Austrian ones. We had an amazing time with free food and fun all morning...

A miniature training 'smokehouse' for the fire fighters to exercise escapes when it's smoked out. (the smoker thing wasn't working but the kids had a fun exploring this camper)
Lifting a man out of a hole...

or a mannequin ;)...

the police motorcycle

Picture Day *cheeese*

oh my, we had a fun time picking up Jenny's schedule. We've been to all different stations before we landed at the 'office' to finally get something taken care of and then go to all the stations again *lol*... but we got it done and Jenny had to take a picture for her student ID. We walked the school a little to make sure she knows where she has to go first thing in the morning.
In the evening we met with some Germans on the 'Bauernhof' (farm) for a BBQ. The pool was open and of course there was no way around it but going swimming ;). Well, only Zoe. She's doing so well. She really needs to take swim lessons...

Exploring Michigan

Yesterday morning we showed Jenny our close by mall for running little errands :)... The kids were thrilled after we walked it once around they got to play in their play area while Jenny checked out a couple of stores in more details.
... and of course the kids needed to stop at this jumping thing ;).

in the afternoon we signed Jenny up at Highschool and it was soooo cool. Since I never went to an American Highschool myself I had so many questions but luckily the staff was very great and answered all our questions and I think we're ready to go! Tomorrow we have to go again to the school and pickup her schedule (she got to pick out some great classes she had on her wish list). Another exciting day :).
In the evening we went to an 'event' that wasn't advertised enough since barely any people showed up but it was ok. There were live mannequins, chalk artists and live music. Henry was so into it, he made himself 'at home' and colored with the chalk artist :). He grew up so much in the last couple of months....

Today we went to the beach and oh man, the kids had a blast, Zoe barely got out of the water and Henry had a great time in the sand while Jenny got pulled into the water all the time by Zoe and she enjoyed this beautiful warm weather and the beach time with us.

a few drops ended our beach time and the huge dark cloud that was coming towards us so we packed up and went to a farm that was on the way home. Of course we had some home made ice cream first *lol*... and then we explored the farm together.
Henry was making sounds like a pig *lol*...

Feeding the goats...

Zoe and Henry were really tired but they did very good. When we got home we picked up Frank and went to Downtown Belleville to enjoy 'taste of belleville'. A bunch of local businesses had small portions of food that you could buy with tickets and a rubber duck race on the lake. We're having a great time here :). Tomorrow we'll have another fun day planned.

Jela got married!

And our next 'Ruhe' Girl got married today :)... bittersweet because I couldn't be there and to date I was able to join Dana's wedding and I am planning on joining Sita's wedding next year. Congrats to the newlyweds on their special day :).

 Yum :)

While the wedding was going on we enjoyed a very fun day at Greenfield Village. We actually drove almost everything you can drive there (first time for us). The kids voluntarily wanted to go on the Coach Bus, the Model T, the 'Kutsche' and we took the train of course :). It was so much fun and a totally different visit than we've done so far.
On the Coach Bus:

In the Model T:

In der Kutsche:
On the Train, you can tell the kids were very tired already and exhausted. They've done so great and it got very hot during the morning hrs that the breeze always felt so good but standing in the sun was torture ;)
