Labor Day - The day before 'first day of school'

Oh my! I cannot believe it but Zoe's first day of school starts tomorrow! Where did the time go? Zoe is not really thrilled but I'm sure that will pass once she makes friends at school and she gets comfortable with her new school. She loved her pre-school too so I'm confident she'll be fine.
My friend Edda made her this amazing 'Elsa' Schultuete... unfortunately here in the USA the first day of school won't be celebrated like it is in Germany :(... so we had a little family celebration this morning (the day before school)... Henry was so super excited about his little Schultuete and Zoe was just sad but very excited about the Schultuete and what was in it :)...

We decided to do one of Henry's most favorite things to do today and one of Zoe's favorite things to do. What else should we do for the last day of 'freedom'? Right? ;)... Now we're hooked on school schedules and stuck with all the others.
Dustin really liked the Henry Ford museum as well. I didn't take more pictures because I've seen it all already so many times ;)... just a few pics:

And in the afternoon we went to the pool :). Last day of outdoor pool today :(... it was super hot so it was the perfect way to end the summer. Dustin did a workout and joined us at the pool for the last few min.

Alright... let's get cooking! To make it easier in the morning I prepared already as much as I could for the lunch boxes. Dustin, Zoe and Frank each need a lunch box for school and work so it'll be a busy morning but once they all are out of the house I get to relax a little with my little man. I think he's super excited to spend some one on one with me for the upcoming time... I wonder how long he'll enjoy it until he'll get bored ;). But no worry, we'll be busy...
Wish us luck that tomorrow will go very smoothly. Dustin will have to catch the school bus at 7:03 am!!! And Frank will bring Zoe to school since her school doesn't have a school bus and they will have to leave the house no later than 7:30am. Very exciting morning... I hope I'll be able to sleep ;). For some reason I'm totally not nervous... I'm excited for tomorrow and look forward to a new chapter in our lives... our first born is a school kid!!!!

Port Huron

Aaahhhh, WONDERFUL. I love Port Huron... it's only 1.5 hrs away from us and sooo beautiful. There is not much going on but the water is blue and you can see big ships going up and down the lake / river and just enjoy an amazingly looking little town from the past.
We started with the beach :)

It was super hot so we treated ourselves to an ice cream... yum

Watching this awesome bridge open and close for boats :)...

Sugar and Pool

FR morning Henry and I baked some very yummi chocolate chip cookies, they were gone by the end of the day! Ups!!!
We actually had a play date with my friend Kimberly and her kids and our oldest ones start kindergarden on TUE so it was actually officially the last play date with the girls :(... next time we probably meet with the boys only and our girls will be in school! So we celebrated with cookies and donuts :)
This is what a play date with Dustin looks like... playing soccer in the yard. The kids were all very happy and exhausted after that morning date :)

In the afternoon we treated ourselves for a pool afternoon instead of working out :)... soaking up some sun before the pool closes on Monday :(

Bowling

Dustin is very busy already! Not only did we do our gym workout - no he also does soccer practice almost every afternoon now. He'll have FR-TUE off which is nice... so he can relax a little and give his body some rest but we're still going to the gym ;). Here you can see the soccer team stretch at the end of practice. Dustin is in the middle / back to me in a green shirt and black pants:
My neighbor Mrs. Sonia baked those crispies with the kids. Chandler moved into her grandma's house. It's quite nice to have a play friend for the kids next door. I ended up with one whole hour to myself while the kids were over at her place and at night we had Chan over for a movie night... really cool but I'm sure it's not always only easy.

Bowling with friends. After our gym workout this morning we went bowling with friends

Soccer Team

Yesterday Dustin had his first soccer practice and it was a little ... ok... VERY hot! So he wasn't sure if soccer would be something he would want to do but weather wise it only gets colder from now on... so he slept a night over it and decided he wanted to do it :). There will be two more very hot practices this week and then it should be a lot better. Soccer practice will be every day after school 2 hrs!!! I tell you, they drill these teens :(... but hopefully it also will be fun and he can find some people in that group that he would like to hang out with.
This morning our task was to get some soccer shoes and chin guards so he'll be ready for practice today.
We also treated ourselves for some Frosty Boy Ice Cream after lunch :). Dustin's first Frosty Boy and there will be MANY more I'm sure :).

Family Addition

On SAT the big day has arrived. We picked up Dustin from the airport after his long trip from Germany. The kids (and us too) were so excited to start our journey with our next Exchange Student. Here is the result of our little artwork we did a couple of days ago. Turned out very cute I think :)

He's coming...

Dustin arrived

We had a great weekend and on MON morning our first stop was Belleville High School were we pretty much got stuck all day but we got everything done we needed to get done and now we can relax and wait until the first day of school.
Yesterday Night we went to the Car Show on Main Street in Belleville. It's always nice again. Dustin had his eyes on the Corvette's ;)... and Frank told us which of the many beautiful cars he had and made memories in ;)...
